Blackwell Bate, a 30-year chartered accountancy firm seek to employ a Level 3 Business Administration Apprentice to assist in the day to day running of the company. The role will include general admin duties, communicating via email and telephone, and supporting with weekly and monthly payroll duties.

The Apprentice’s Role

The apprentice will be expected to begin by helping with general administration duties, such as answering the phone, responding to emails and filing paperwork. As the apprenticeship progresses, the apprentice will be given more responsibilities and roles within the company, including aiding the business with weekly/monthly payroll duties.

Duties include

*Digital tasks, such as emails, data entry and document creation
*Understanding and interpreting information
*Answering calls and enquiries
*Following employer practices
Learning and shadowing with trained members of staff to fully develop within the role
*General administration tasks
*Payroll tasks

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week. The hours would be discussed and between Monday-Thursday between 8:30am – 5pm and Friday 08:30am – 1pm.

Wages: £6.40, although negotiable for the right candidate.

Holiday: To be agreed with employer.

Blackwell Bate Chartered Accountants began from humble beginnings in 1993. Back then Alex Blackwell started working from home with a small number of clients. Since then practice has grown and now looks after a wide range of businesses from sole traders and partnerships to freelancers and limited companies. The company operates across 2 sites and now employs 25 people and prides itself on providing exceptional service to our clients.

A full-time job may be offered to the right candidate on completion of their apprenticeship for either an administrator or should the candidate wish they can do further training.

Skills Required

  • To work in a safe, efficient, and professional manner at all times.
  • To assist the office staff with sales, daily administration tasks and invoices.
  • To learn how to promote and to continue to promote the excellence required by the company.
  • To work as directed by the managing director & any other senior management
  • To assist with all administration with regards to Health & Safety.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • To assist with all administration tasks..
  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills are required (Functional Skills provided by Skills Group if required)

*The Apprenticeship consists of:

  • Level 3 Business Administration Standard
  • Functional Skills in Maths and English

You will attend two monthly sessions as part of your off the job training throughout your apprenticeship. Most aspects of your training will be delivered on site by the employer, where you will gain all the skills, knowledge and experience to assist you in this role. Your duties will vary from day to day, and throughout your on site learning process you will work closely with experienced members of staff.

You will have regular visits every six to eight weeks from your designated assessor, who will help you and monitor your progress throughout your apprenticeship programme

In a classroom, you only interact with your classmates, but through working you develop your people skills as you interact with customers on a daily basis.
