Zenith Building Services are currently looking to take on an apprentice undertaking their level 2 Carpentry course. The company work on a range of projects and are currently working on properties worth £2million in Salcombe, Plymouth and surrounding areas. Zenith Building Services are a very reputable company, and whilst you’ll be learning carpentry, you will also learn other trades too. The Apprentice’s Role
As a carpentry apprentice you will learn all aspects of carpentry and joinery, Zenith Building Services cover every aspect of first fix and second fix carpentry, including imaginative design, impeccable standards of construction and professional project management. You will be expected to learn how to measure, cut and build. You will be working with wood among other materials on a day-to-day basis and must be precise with all of your work.
The successful apprentice will learn other aspects of the building and construction trade to enhance and develop knowledge within a variety of building projects.
Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Wages: £256 per week, based on 40 hours per week.
Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement (including bank holidays) will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

On completion of your Level 2 apprenticeship with the company, you will be able to progress on to the Level 3 Advanced Site Carpentry Apprenticeship. An opportunity to apply for a full time post may be offered to the right learner.
Skills Required
The successful apprentice will need to be able to understand and follow instructions quickly and precisely due to the high level of work they will be completing. They must work to specific deadlines on all tasks and will also need to be physically strong in order to meet the demands of this role. They will need to take pride in their work and have good communication skills to deal with customers and colleagues.
Personal Qualities
You must be a good team player with the motivation to succeed within a busy construction industry. The successful applicant will need to be reliable, hardworking and enthusiastic with a genuine interest in the carpentry sector. Due to the calibre of clients that Zenith work for the individual will need to be well presented at all times and conduct themselves accordingly.
Prior Qualifications
GCSE or equivalent grades A-E (9-2) or equivalent is desired but not essential.

As part of the apprenticeship programme, attendance is required at our Skills Group training centre for one day per week. All other aspects of the qualification will be delivered on-site by the employer. You will have regular visits every six to eight weeks from your designated Skills Group assessor, who will monitor your progress during your apprenticeship training.
Whilst at the Skills Group training centre, you will learn the necessary skills and gain experience to help you throughout your role. Part of your training will be knowledge and theory based, whilst the rest will be practical.
As an additional qualification you will also achieve your Emergency First Aid and Health and Safety Certificate, along with Internet Safety and Safeguarding.
As part of your apprenticeship Skills Group will also support you to complete your online CSCS test, which will enable you to apply for your CSCS Card. This shows that you are at the required competent level to carry out site work with the employer.
