Phil Deare Carpentry (Wadebridge) Level 2

Phil Deare Carpentry specialises in all aspects of carpentry on new build housing developments and is looking to expand his workforce with a carpentry apprentice in Wadebridge. The Apprentice’s Role

As a carpentry apprentice you will learn all aspects of carpentry and joinery as well as building and construction work, you will be expected to learn how to measure, cut and build using materials. You will be working with wood on a day to day basis and must be precise with all of your work.

You will be expected to be willing to learn and take direction well and you must have good attention to detail. The successful apprentice will learn other aspects of the building and construction trade to enhance and develop your knowledge. The successful candidate will learn all aspects of carpentry within commercial and residential environments, whilst working towards achieving their level 2 apprenticeship.

Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, times will vary depending on the site location.

Wages: £8.00 per hour

Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement (including bank holidays) will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

After having completed your apprenticeship programme, you will have the opportunity to progress onto a higher level apprenticeship or become self-employed and in time a small business owner.

Skills Required

You will need to have good communication skills, as you will be dealing with customer and colleagues. You will be expected to work physically so a high level of stamina is desirable and you may be working in people's homes so you will need to be responsible at all times.

• Maths GCSE (4 or above)
• English GCSE (4 or above)

Personal Qualities

Potential candidates will need to be punctual, with good time keeping skills and confidence. They will also need to be able to adapt to different situations and have a willingness to learn. You must be reliable and motivated with a good work ethic.

The Apprenticeship in Carpentry consists of:

• Level 2 Carpentry & Joinery Standard (Site)

As part of the apprenticeship programme, attendance is required at our Skills Group training centre for one day per week. All other aspects of the qualification will be delivered on-site by the employer. You will have regular visits every six to eight weeks from your designated Skills Group assessor, who will monitor your progress during your apprenticeship training.

Whilst at the Skills Group training centre, you will learn the necessary skills and gain experience to help you throughout your role. Part of your training will be knowledge and theory based, whilst the rest will be practical.

As an additional qualification you will also achieve your Emergency First Aid and Health and Safety Certificate, along with Internet Safety and Safeguarding.
