Plympton MOT Centre are looking for a passionate and hard working Autocare Technician apprentice to join their busy team in Plympton.
The Apprentice’s Role
This position involves working as part of a close team under the supervision and support of a fully skilled mechanic. Your main role will be to support the other mechanics with MOT servicing and general repairs and vehicle maintenance.
You will ideally require a full driving licence, due to the job role. However, this can be discussed with the employer directly. Experience or background knowledge in the field is preferable, but not essential although a keen interest in the trade is a must!

This role will also involve the successful candidate to attend our training centre one day per week for the duration of your apprenticeship.
Working Hours: Your typical working hours will be Monday to Saturday, 40 hours per week.
Wages: £6.40 per hour. Pay will be reviewed depending on performance, and the employer is happy to pay above minimum wage.
Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement (including bank holidays) will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

On completion of the level 2 apprenticeship, the suitable candidate would then be considered for progression onto the level 3 advanced apprenticeship.
Also potentially future specialist training courses such as hybrid and electrical vehicle training would be available.
Skills Required
Good basic hand skills are preferable, however a genuine drive to learn and develop new skills is essential. Honesty, reliability and a positive hardy attitude is also an essential quality for this role.
A full driving licence is desirable due to the job role (e.g. being able to drive a customer's vehicle to identify a fault). However, this is not essential.
Prior Qualifications
No formal qualifications are required for this role.
The Apprenticeship includes:
An Autocare Technician carries out a range of services and repairs to cars, car derived vans and light goods vehicles.
Working in either a Dealership or independent automotive garage environment. An Autocare Technician requires a unique combination of technical, retail and customer services skills. They will use a range of tools, measuring and diagnostic equipment to identify and repair simple system faults.
