It was time to unleash the scare spray yesterday as learners from Skills Group’s Plymouth Hair Academy took part in the Halloween Horror Story Competition.
Fifteen learners, most of whom are studying for their Level 1 qualification in Hairdressing, were challenged with creating a Halloween look in two hours. They set to work as the salon was transformed into a witch’s lair for the day, complete with spiders and pumpkins.
Fifteen frighteningly good looks were produced, but only three prizes were up for grabs. Tasked with making the tough decision were the judges, Lisa Rosewarne, Skills Group Hairdressing Manager, and Sophie Holland, Charlie Mousley and Zoe Scarff, Hairdressing Assessors.
In first place was Chelsea Sterry, whose Halloween vision was based on the Mexican Day of the Dead. Amy Sims’s Frankenstein-inspired concept came second, while Aleasha Matherall scooped third place with her spooky school girl model.
Lisa, head judge, said: “The Halloween Horror Story Competition was loads of fun for all involved. For most of the learners, this was their first competition, and they did a fantastic job. We saw lots of original ideas and some really promising hairdressing skills.”
Well done to all of our learners – next up: the Christmas competition!
