This is an exciting opportunity for two enthusiastic hairdressing apprentices to join a Salon in Plymouth.
The Apprentice’s Role
Yoke the Salon are looking for two apprentice’s to join their friendly team. This salon is based in Plymouth’s Highly desirable area of the royal William yard, and is easy to reach by surrounding bus routes. The employer is looking for someone who is enthusiastic with good social skills,creative and keen to learn.
Duties are likely to include booking appointments, shampooing, conditioning, drying and styling hair also mixing and applying hair coloring. You’ll study hairdressing topics such as hair and skin testing, the effects of chemicals on hair and skin, and the principles of hair colour selection – there’s also the option to learn about promoting products, perming, and working with different hair types.
Working Hours: 37 hours per week (5days) between Tuesday – Saturday. Possible late night training session once a week.
Wages: £144.00 per week based on a 37 hour week.
Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement (including bank holidays) will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

eco friendly products. Where possible, we avoid using harsh chemicals that could damage the environment, and your hair. We recycle as much as we can, and we use Eco-towels, which mean
that energy consumption in washing and drying is cut by up to 40%, and water use by around 15%.
YOKE exclusively uses the very best L’Oreal products, and our head colourist Jo holds the highly
sought after L’Oreal Colour Specialist qualification, which you won’t find anywhere else in the city.
YOKE have a long history of developing young apprentices into highly competent Hair stylists, they have a wealth of experience which they wish to share with the right candidate.
Once having completed the level 2 qualification, there will be an opportunity to work towards an advanced level 3 to further enhance your skills.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work well in a team, and to be able to portray a positive friendly attitude to customers at all times.
Candidates will need to be enthusiastic about training, have a creative flair and a genuine passion for the hairdressing industry. Building good relationships with clients is a vital part of a successful salon so excellent interpersonal skills are required.
Excellent communication skills, high standards of hygiene and appearance are essential. Being a keen team player are essential for any salon apprentice, you will learn how to demonstrate this consistently to ensure that you promote a positive image at all times.
Candidates will need to be enthusiastic about training, have a creative flair and a genuine passion for the Hairdressing industry. Building good relationships with clients is a vital part of a successful salon so excellent interpersonal skills are required.
No prior qualifications are required, just a passion for Hairdressing and a willingness to learn.
The Apprenticeship in Hairdressing includes:
• Level 2 Hair Professional (Hairdressing / Barbering)
• Level 2 Diploma for Hair Professionals (Hairdressing / Barbering)
• Functional Skills in Maths and English
Some aspects of the qualification will be delivered on-site and you will have regular visits every 2 to 4 weeks from your designated assessor from Skills Group, who will monitor your progression throughout your apprenticeship.
As part of your apprenticeship you will be expected to attend college one day per week, where you will improve upon your knowledge and practical skills.
