The Apprentice’s Role

Join Therapy Hair and Beauty to become a qualified Hair Professional! As an apprentice, you’ll dive into the exciting world of hairdressing, honing your skills in scheduling appointments, taking calls, washing and styling hair, and learning the art of hair colouring.

Through hands-on practice and guidance from our expert mentors, you’ll master the techniques of cutting, setting, and styling, and become a pro in hair colouring. Your skills will be further sharpened as you study hairdressing subjects like skin and hair testing, the science behind hair colouring, and how to select the perfect hair colour for your clients.

You’ll also learn about promoting products, perming, and working with various hair types, all while keeping the environment in mind. We believe in sustainable working methods and aim to give you the best possible training.

To meet the Level 2 Hair Professional Standard, you’ll attend scheduled college sessions for extra practical training. This is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for to turn your passion for hair into a successful career!

Working Hours: You will be working 30 hours per week, Monday – Saturday (Salon is closed Wednesday). Possible late night training session once a week.

Wages: £144.30 per week, based on a 30 hour week. Any overtime above the 40 hours per week, will be paid at the appropriate national minimum wage depending on age.

Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement pro rata (including bank holidays) will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

Skills Required

Prior Qualifications

Qualifications required for this role include;

GCSE or equivalent English (Grade 9-1 equals to A*-G) desirable
GCSE or equivalent Maths (Grade 9-1 equals to A*-G) desirable

The Apprenticeship in Hairdressing includes:

  • Level 2 Hair Professional Standard
  • Functional Skills in Maths and English (As required)

All aspects of the qualification will be delivered on-site and you will have regular visits every 2 to 4 weeks from your designated assessor from Skills Group, who will monitor your progression throughout your apprenticeship.

In a classroom, you only interact with your classmates, but through working you develop your people skills as you interact with customers on a daily basis. At school, you are closely monitored and parented, however I am now more independent and feel grown up
