Now exam season is over, youngsters who are keen to start their careers are invited to attend an apprenticeship drop-in session in Plymouth or Newton Abbot next week.
South West training provider Skills Group is holding drop-in sessions at its training centre in Western Wood Way, Plympton, and apprenticeship recruitment centre in Union Street, Newton Abbot. Both events are on Wednesday 13th July from 4-6pm.
Parents and youngsters are encouraged to find out more about apprenticeships, how they work and the career opportunities they offer. Career advisors will be available to talk through different pathways and current apprenticeship vacancies.
Fay Steer, Skills Group’s Marketing Manager, said: “There is still a misconception that young people have to stay on at school after taking their GCSEs. However, this is not the case. The raising of the participation age is about young people continuing their education until they are 18 – and this includes apprenticeships.
Skills Group has a range of apprenticeship opportunities across the South West with some of the region’s top local employers. We currently have over 180 apprenticeship vacancies, with career opportunities in Business, Construction, Engineering, Hairdressing, Care and Early Years, Sport and Leisure, and Teaching and Education.
An apprenticeship gives you a job, a wage and your training, which can be both on and off-the-job. It is a great way to start a career and can open plenty of doors.”
Fay added: “Our drop-in sessions are open to anyone looking for an apprenticeship or a full-time vocational course. They will be able to find out more about apprenticeships and the opportunities these can lead to.”
Skills Group is a leading provider of apprenticeship training in Business Administration, Care and Early Years, Construction, Engineering and Automotive, Hairdressing, Sport and Leisure, and Teaching and Education.
