UTC are looking to appoint 2 teaching assistant apprentice’s to support the learners and day to day running of our college.

The Apprentice’s Role

UTC are looking to appoint a teaching assistant apprentice to support the learners and day to day running of our college . We are looking for someone with a strong commitment to developing the positive, well-being and character of children who will work collaboratively as part of a team of staff. Good communication skills are essential and a willingness to adapt activities to suit the needs of the children will be important. Experience of supporting children with a range of needs would be desirable. A passion for Engineering, Science, Maths and Technology is desirable. To support teaching and learning throughout the Academy working with Learners 14+ supporting in class and also in practical sessions. Focus on the technical specialisms of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). Work supporting learners with local industry, employers and The university of Plymouth to develop and deliver our curriculum. Providing essential academic education alongside technical specialisms. Supporting in small classes and one-to one Support in a high tech working environment. Supporting learners to utilise the latest equipment and technology used by industry. Supporting learners in day to day activities.

Working Hours: 30-40 hours per week, ranging between the hours of 8am-4.30pm Monday to Friday. Specific times will be negotiated with the college.
After school clubs and Lunch time clubs will be required.

Wages: £156.00 per week, based on a 40 hour week. Any additional hours worked over 40 hours per week will be paid at the National Minimum Wage depending on age.

Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement (including bank holidays) will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

Skills Required

Good Numeracy and Literacy standards need to be demonstrated and a a real interest in working with children in an active environment.

Personal Qualities

Team player, patience, punctuality, confidentiality and reliability is essential. A strong work ethic will need to be demonstrated.

Prior Qualifications

Math and English A*-C (4-9) is essential.

The Apprenticeship in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools includes:

•Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
