We have a number of fantastic opportunities available in Plymouth and surrounding areas for Teaching Assistant Apprentices to start in September 2021.
The Apprentice’s Role
Please note this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
Working Hours: 30-40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, specific hours will be arranged at interview.
Wages: £129 – £172 per week, £4.30 per hour, wages will vary depending on hours worked

After having completed this apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to progress onto higher level qualifications or broaden you skill set with your employer.
Skills Required
You will need to have excellent communication skills as you may be dealing with a range of different people with differing abilities and needs. Alongside this, you will need to be able to listen carefully, follow instruction and have a keen interest in supporting young people to succeed. The successful apprentice should also possess good administrative and IT skills.
Personal Qualities
In order to be successful for one of these roles, you will need to be patient, compassionate and resourceful with a resilient nature. You will also need to be calm, confident and demonstrate a professional approach in your dealings with young people, staff, parents and external agencies.
Prior Qualifications
Desired qualifications are GCSEs, including Maths and English, Grade C (4/5) or above.
Additional Requirements
In order to be successful for this position, you will need to complete an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. This will be arranged by the employer after successfully completing the initial interview.
Level 3 Teaching Assistant Standard
Learner Well Being
You will be allocated an assessor who will work with you throughout your programme, offering you support throughout. Mentoring and guidance will be given to you to enable you to succeed with your apprenticeship.
Throughout your apprenticeship, you will have regular visits from your assessor who will monitor your progress and conduct observations within your workplace.
Whilst at Skills Group, you will learn the necessary skills and gain experience to help you throughout your role. Part of your training will be knowledge/theory based, with support sessions to help you complete the required tasks.
