Sir Robert Geffery’s School are keen to appoint 4 Teaching Assistants to assist classroom based taught sessions.

The Apprentice’s Role

You will be fully supported throughout your apprenticeship by a qualified member of staff who will teach you the skills and knowledge you need to know to successfully complete your tasks.
•You will be involved in setting up activities and clearing away resources as guided by teaching staff, supporting school groups and individuals in the classroom environment and on a one-to-one basis as required
•You will be assisting in the creation of a fun, positive and inclusive learning environment, where young people feel safe and assist in preparing, using and maintaining relevant teaching resources, including wall displays and cleaning up classrooms after activities
•Along with developing positive relationships and acting as a role model to others at all times, you will assist with lunch and break time supervision of students on a rota basis and accompany students on educational visits and outings as supervised by the teacher or senior person responsible

Working Hours: 30-40 hours per week, ranging between the hours of 8am-4.30pm Monday to Friday. Specific times will be negotiated.

Wages: £156.00 per week, based on a 40 hour week. Any additional hours worked over 40 hours per week will be paid at the National Minimum Wage depending on age.

Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement (including bank holidays) will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

Skills Required

•Compliance with all school policies and a commitment to Safeguarding will be an essential requirement of this role
•Experience of working within an educational context would be advantageous, however a determination to support young people is more important
•The ability to motivate and inspire young people is additionally of the utmost importance and will be achieved through good verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills

Personal Qualities

•A caring and motivated individual is required to create an inclusive learning environment
•The successful applicant will need to be organised, flexible, a good team player and hard working

Prior Qualifications

Qualifications required for this role include GCSE's grades A* – E in Mathematics and English, or equivalent qualifications.

The Apprenticeship in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools includes:

•Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
•Functional Skills in English (Level 2), Maths (Level 3) and ICT (Level 2)
