Prince Rock Primary are looking for a school sports apprentice in an outstanding Primary School in a range of classes from Early Years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
The Apprentice’s Role
To support teaching and learning throughout the school.
Prince Rock Primary School requires an enthusiastic and talented person to join our high achieving school. A passion for developing sport and healthy living at an early age is essential. In school, you would be tasked with supporting and leading (where appropriate) P.E. lessons, lunch and playtime activities, clubs and events to raise the profile of P.E. and school sport at Prince Rock. This may include attending residentials with the children once or twice a year. Currently, our school has the ‘School Games Gold Quality Mark’ as well as ‘The Healthy Child Quality Mark ‘and we would like a passionate individual to work alongside the P.E. team to continue improving our P.E. and Sports Provision.
Alongside studying for an NVQ 3 qualification the successful candidate will work directly under our PE Coordinator. In addition to the qualification, the school will provide full training for Real P.E. You will be supported in school by the P.E. Coordinator, provided with excellent training opportunities and additional sports qualifications. There are plenty of opportunities with our links to the Plymouth School Sports Partnership and other providers to help you continue your professional development.
Your day to day duties will include:
• To support classes with the delivery of P.E.
• Run a sports element of our after school club
• Develop a sporting programme at lunchtimes, run some structured play/games.
• Maintain the sports equipment and set up for lessons.
• Assist in after school clubs including set up.
• Attend and assist in sporting events.
Working Hours: 30 hours per week, ranging between the hours of 9am – 6 pm Monday to Friday. Specific times will be negotiated with the school but a typical day might be 11 am – 5.30pm.
Wages: £117.00 per week, based on a 30 hour week. Any overtime above the 40 hours per week, will be paid at the appropriate national minimum wage depending on age.
Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement (including bank holidays) will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

Good Numeracy and Literacy standards need to be demonstrated and a real interest in working with children.

Prior QualificationsMath and English A*-C is essential.
The Apprenticeship in Physical Education and School Sport includes:
◾Level 3 NVQ Certificate in Activity Leadership (QCF)
◾Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Learning in Physical Education and School Sport (QCF)
◾Functional Skills in Maths and English (Level 1)
◾Employment Rights and Responsibilities
◾Emergency First Aid
◾Certified Health and Safety Course
◾Internet Safety / Safeguarding
Most aspects of your training will be delivered on-site by the employer at your workplace, and you will have regular visits every six to eight weeks by your designated assessor from Skills Group, who will monitor your progress throughout your apprenticeship programme. Additional NGB and CPD courses may be provided as part of your professional development within the role.
