The Apprentice’s Role
W Partington Ltd. is a large employer and works in construction sites throughout Plymouth, therefore you will need to be prepared for this.
the main role with the organisation is dry lining, you will also be developed in all aspects of plastering whilst attending your weekly sessions at Skills Group. You will be working in a close knit team to achieve deadlines whilst producing high standards of work.
The employer is eager to develop an apprentice long term in an aim to employ them at the end of successfully completing their apprenticeship. Therefore, they are looking for an individual who is eager and motivated to drive their career forward. You will be an excellent team player and communicate with ease.
Any basic knowledge of the trade will be advantageous and you must be enthusiastic and willing to learn.
Working Hours: The working hours will be Monday to Friday, 7:30am- 5pm. This may vary so will need to be discussed on securing placement.
Wages: £148.00 per week, based on a 40 hour week. Any overtime above 40 hours per week, will be paid at the appropriate national minimum wage depending on age.
Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement (including bank holidays) will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

On completion of your Level 2 qualification, you will have the opportunity to developing your skills, experience and knowledge further within the working environment by completing a level 3 qualification.

Qualifications for this role include GCSE’s grades A – E in Maths and English, or equivalent qualification, however these are desired not essential.

◾Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Plastering
◾Level 2 Diploma in Plastering
◾Functional Skills in Maths and English (Level 1)
◾Construction Skills Health, Safety and Environment test – CSCS Test
◾Emergency First Aid
◾Certified Health and Safety Course
◾Internet Safety / Safeguarding
Attendance is required at our training centre for one day per week. Your training will consist of part knowledge and part theory, whilst the rest will be practical. During this time you will be shown the necessary hand skills required to use specialist tools, carry out duties such as plastering and skimming, rendering, dry lining work, floor screeding and fibrous moulds. Learning these skills will benefit you on returning to your employer.
You will also have the opportunity to complete additional qualifications in Emergency First Aid and certified Health and Safety, along with Internet Safety and Safeguarding.
Skills Group will also support you to complete your online CSCS test, in order to apply for your CSCS Card. This will enable you to carry out site work with the employer when required.
