Robbie Matsambanye are looking to employ a carpentry apprentice based in the Plymouth City Centre area.
The Apprentice’s Role
As a carpentry apprentice you will learn all aspects of carpentry and joinery as well as building and construction work, you will be expected to learn how to make stud walls, fit doors and make door frames, you will be working with wood on a day to day basis and must be precise with all of your work. You will be expected to be willing to learn and take direction well, you must have good attention to detail. You will learn other aspects of the building and construction trade to enhance and develop your knowledge.
Working Hours: The working hours will be Monday to Friday 6:00am-4:30pm.
Wages: £156.00 per week. Any overtime above the 40 hours per week, will be paid at the appropriate national minimum wage depending on age.
Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement, including bank holidays, will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

Robbie has been working in the carpentry industry for over 30 years offering commercial carpentry services across Cornwall and Devon. They are currently working on a large new build development site in Hayle and is looking to expand his workforce by taking on an apprentice.
After completing a level 2 in site carpentry there maybe an opportunity to progress onto an advanced level 3 qualification.
The right candidate must take pride in their work and show attention to detail. You must have excellent communication skills to work well within a team and use your initiative when working alone. Good time keeping and attendance are also desirable.
You will need to be keen to succeed, reliable, hardworking and have the ability to cope with the physical demands of the role. Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail would also be an advantage to the right candidate.
GCSE or equivalent grades A-E (or equivalent) is desired but not essential.
The Apprenticeship in Wood Occupations Site Carpentry consists of:
◾Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Wood Occupations (Site Carpentry)
◾Level 2 Standard Carpentry and Joinery
◾Functional Skills in Maths and English (Level 1)
◾Construction Skills Health, Safety and Environment test – CSCS Test
◾Emergency First Aid
◾Certified Health and Safety Course
◾Internet Safety / Safeguarding
As part of the apprenticeship programme, attendance is required at our Skills Group training centre for one day per week. All other aspects of the qualification will be delivered on-site by the employer. You will have regular visits every six to eight weeks from your designated Skills Group assessor, who will monitor your progress during your apprenticeship training.
Whilst at the Skills Group training centre, you will learn the necessary skills and gain experience to help you throughout your role. Part of your training will be knowledge and theory based, whilst the rest will be practical. Learning additional skills will benefit you on returning to the employer.
As an additional qualification you will also achieve your Emergency First Aid and certified Health and Safety Certificates, along with Internet Safety and Safeguarding.
