MJR Construction are looking to recruit a new apprentice in Carpentry to work with an established company renovating houses.
The Apprentice’s Role
The Carpentry Apprentice will learn all aspects of carpentry within the residential environment, working on renovating properties in the local area.
You will be working towards achieving your Level 2 NVQ and diploma both on site and at college.
You will be involved in all areas from start to finish and learn aspects of other trades within the construction field. You will be shown the use of specialist tools and equipment used for this role, and will be supervised at all times by an experienced team.
You will follow all health and safety procedures in the work place at all times, and ensure that all tools are clean and put away correctly at the end of each day.
Working Hours: You will be working 9-5 which equates to 40 hours per week.
Wages: £156.00 per week, based on a 40 hour week. Any time worked over the 40 hours will be paid at National Minimum Wage for your age.
Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement (including bank holidays) will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

You will need to be eager to learn and adapt, keen, reliable, hardworking and have the ability to cope with the physical demands of the role. The right candidate must take pride in their work and show attention to detail. You must have excellent communication skills to work well within a team and use your initiative when working alone and have the confidence to ask questions. Good punctuality and timekeeping is a must.

Basic English and Maths.
The Apprenticeship in Wood Occupations Site Carpentry consists of:
◾Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Wood Occupations (Site Carpentry)
◾Level 2 Standard Carpentry and Joinery
◾Functional Skills in Maths and English (Level 1)
◾Construction Skills Health, Safety and Environment test – CSCS Test
◾Emergency First Aid
◾Certified Health and Safety Course
◾Internet Safety / Safeguarding
As part of the apprenticeship programme, attendance is required at our Skills Group training centre for one day per week. All other aspects of the qualification will be delivered on-site by the employer. You will have regular visits every six to eight weeks from your designated Skills Group assessor, who will monitor your progress during your apprenticeship training.
Whilst at the Skills Group training centre, you will learn the necessary skills and gain experience to help you throughout your role. Part of your training will be knowledge and theory based, whilst the rest will be practical. Learning additional skills will benefit you on returning to the employer.
As an additional qualification you will also achieve your Emergency First Aid and certified Health and Safety Certificates, along with Internet Safety and Safeguarding.
