This employer is looking for an apprentice that is willing to learn all the skills required to become a fully qualified Painter and Decorator.
The Apprentice’s Role
You will be working in clients homes in and outside of the Plymouth to include Yelverton and the Tavistock areas. The company offers professional interior and exterior painting and decorating, wallpaper hanging in domestic and commercial properties. All aspects of your apprenticeship in painting and decorating will include, internal/external painting, preparation work, wallpapering, cleaning, mixing of paints, and customer service.
Working Hours: 40 hours per week Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4.30pm. This may vary slightly depending on workload and travel time.
Wages: £156.00 per week, potentially increasing with performance related pay reviews throughout your apprenticeships. Any additional hours worked over the 40 hours per week, will be paid at the appropriate national minimum wage.
Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement (including bank holidays) will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

Lee Wickett Painting and Decorating has been established for over 5 years and has an enormous clientele and great reputation. Lee works on his own currently and is looking to pass down his knowledge in painting and decorating to a young person. He wants someone who will join his team for the long run, complete a level 2 and level 3 and become an industry leading decorating specialist.
This company focus on interior and exterior painting and decorating and wallpaper hanging to domestic and commercial properties. Lee takes a great deal of pride in his work and pays attention to detail.
On completion of your Level 2 qualification in Decorative Finishing – Painting, you will have the opportunity to progress onto the advanced Level 3 apprenticeship.
This will help you to develop your skills further and gain the additional experience to progress your career opportunities.
You will need basic handskills, good timekeeping, communication skills and good customer service.
You will need to be self motivated, be enthusiastic, well presented and have a willingness to learn.
Qualifications required for this role include GCSE grades A – E in Maths and English, or equivalent qualifications.
The Apprenticeship in Painting & Decorating consists of:
◾Level 2 NVQ Painting & Decorating
◾Level 2 Diploma in Painting
◾Functional Skills in Maths and English (Level 1)
◾Construction Skills Health, Safety and Environment test – CSCS Test
◾Emergency First Aid
◾Certified Health and Safety Course
◾Internet Safety / Safeguarding
As part of the apprenticeship programme, attendance is required at our Skills Group training centre for one day per week. All other aspects of the qualification will be delivered on-site by the employer. You will have regular visits every six to eight weeks from your designated Skills Group assessor, who will monitor your progress during your apprenticeship training.
Whilst at the Skills Group training centre, you will learn the necessary skills and gain experience to help you throughout your role. Part of your training will be knowledge and theory based, whilst the rest will be practical. Learning additional skills will benefit you on returning to the employer.
As an additional qualification you will also achieve your Emergency First Aid and certified Health and Safety Certificates, along with Internet Safety and Safeguarding.
