The successful candidate will learn all aspects of carpentry within a commercial & residential environment, whilst working towards achieving their level 2 Standards and NVQ.
The Apprentice’s Role
The successful apprentice will learn a variety of construction trades and be involved in a range of different tasks.
To give you an idea of the type of work you will be carrying out, Jask Property Ltd have recently been fitting new kitchens and are currently working on some house extensions.
Some of the work the services they provide includes building works, roofing, fascias and guttering, plastering, conservatories and many more.
Whilst on site you will be expected to use a variety of equipment safely, once taught how. To shadow members of the team whilst they undertake their work and to learn from them before picking up the tools yourself.
Working Hours: 40 hours per week. 8-5 Monday to Friday. To be on site in Plymstock for 8am pick up.
Wages: £148.00 per week. Any overtime above the 40 hours per week, will be paid at the appropriate national minimum wage depending on age.
Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement, including bank holidays, will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

GCSE or equivalent grades A-E (or equivalent) is desired but not essential.
The Apprenticeship in Wood Occupations consists of:

◾Level 2 Diploma in Carpentry
◾Functional Skills in Maths and English (Level 1)
◾Construction Skills Health, Safety and Environment test – CSCS Test

◾Certified Health and Safety Course
◾Internet Safety / Safeguarding
As part of the apprenticeship programme, attendance is required at our Skills Group training centre for one day per week. All other aspects of the qualification will be delivered on-site by the employer. You will have regular visits every six to eight weeks from your designated Skills Group assessor, who will monitor your progress during your apprenticeship training.
Whilst at the Skills Group training centre, you will learn the necessary skills and gain experience to help you throughout your role. Part of your training will be knowledge and theory based, whilst the rest will be practical. Learning additional skills will benefit you on returning to the employer.
As an additional qualification you will also achieve your Emergency First Aid and certified Health and Safety Certificates, along with Internet Safety and Safeguarding.
