The Apprentice’s Role
You will initially be assisting with loading and unloading at start of day and end of day, lifting frames and glass onto van ready for work and checking paperwork to ensure you have everything needed and travelling in van to site. You will be preparing the work areas by laying dust sheets and moving customers furniture or items if required. You will also be involved in the removal of old PVCu and timber of aluminium items including glass, preparing space for new windows and assisting with fitting of new windows, applying silicone. You will use small hand tools, including drills and saws., which you will be shown how to use. This is a really good opportunity for someone to learn all aspects of the fenestration trade. You will be well supported throughout your training, your responsibility within the team will grow as you gain more confidence and knowledge. It is vital you have good customer service skills and behave in a responsible manner, promoting the company in a positive light when dealing with the customers.
Working Hours: 40hr per week. Normal working week 8-5 Monday to Friday but flexibility on times needed due to site locations.
Wages: £148.00 per week, based on a 40 hour week. Any overtime above the 40 hours per week, will be paid at the appropriate national minimum wage depending on age.
Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement (including bank holidays) will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

You will need to be confident and very personable to succeed in this role. You will handle all tasks given with maturity and have a methodical approach to your work. You will have good attention to detail and have the ability to prioritise. It is essential that you have the genuine desire and willingness to learn. You must also be a morning person and be able to get up early and ready to work 5 days a week.
Qualifications desirable for this role include A-E in English and Maths or the equivalent such as functional skills, but not essential as having the enthusiasm and a willingness to succeed are more important.
The Apprenticeship in Window Fitting consists of:
◾Level 3 NVQ in Fenestration
◾Level 3 Diploma in Fenestration
◾Functional Skills in Maths and English (Level 2)
◾Construction Skills Health, Safety and Environment test – CSCS Test
◾Emergency First Aid
◾Certified Health and Safety Course
◾Internet Safety / Safeguarding
As part of the apprenticeship programme, attendance is required at our Skills Group training centre for one day per week. All other aspects of the qualification will be delivered on-site by the employer. You will have regular visits every six to eight weeks from your designated Skills Group assessor, who will monitor your progress during your apprenticeship training.
Whilst at the Skills Group training centre, you will learn the necessary skills and gain experience to help you throughout your role. Part of your training will be knowledge and theory based, whilst the rest will be practical. Learning additional skills will benefit you on returning to the employer.
As an additional qualification you will also achieve your Emergency First Aid and certified Health and Safety Certificates, along with Internet Safety and Safeguarding.
