An established window fitting business based in Plympton, Plymouth are looking to recruit an apprentice to join their workforce.
The Apprentice’s Role
The role will be varied and interesting and duties will include working in a factory environment manufacturing PVCU products which could include double glazed windows, doors and frames. The successful apprentice will also be trained in working from cutting sheets and finishing the windows. Another side of the role will be working with the fitting team and assisting with the installation of windows, doors and conservatories. The apprentice will start off with general labouring duties whilst gaining an insight into the trade and learning new hand skills. This is a fun and interesting role for the right person who is keen to learn and develop new skills.
Working Hours: You will be working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8am – 5pm.
Wages: £156.00 per week. Any overtime above the 40 hours per week, will be paid at the appropriate national minimum wage depending on age.
Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement (including bank holidays) will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

Whilst you will initially be working towards your NVQ qualification, there will be an opportunity for an apprentice with the right skills, ability and attitude to progress onto a full time role within the company.
The successful candidate must be able to work within a team and get on with people of all ages. They must be polite and friendly with the ability to communicate with others whether it be customers or colleagues.
They will be honest and trustworthy, as they will deal with members of the public in their own homes. They must also have good time keeping and communication skills. Being polite and courteous to all customers and members of staff is also crucial at all times
GCSE (or equivalent) English and Maths above a C is desirable but a positive attitude and good work ethic is essential.
The Apprenticeship in Fenestration Installation consists of:
◾NVQ Certificate in Fenestration Installation
◾Certificate in Glass Related Operations
◾Functional Skills in Maths and English (Level 2)
◾Construction Skills Health, Safety and Environment test – CSCS Test
◾Emergency First Aid
◾Certified Health and Safety Course
◾Internet Safety / Safeguarding
Most aspects of your training will be delivered on-site with the employer, and you will have regular site visits every six to eight weeks from your designated assessor, who will monitor your progress throughout your apprenticeship programme.
Skills Group will also support you to achieve Emergency First Aid and a Health and Safety Certificate, along with Internet Safety and Safeguarding.
You will also be supported by Skills Group to complete your CSCS online test, to achieve your CSCS Card which enables you to carry out site work, if required.
