AGS Windows are looking to take on a fenestration apprentice to join their team in Newton Abbot.
The Apprentice’s Role
The successful applicant will be working in teams of two or more people. They will be making sure that the new windows fit the space available, enlarging or reducing the space if necessary. If existing windows have to be removed, they take them out using hand and power tools.
They will be using a variety of different tools which they will guide and assist you in learning. You may also be:
◾Replacing doors and weatherboarding
You will be working indoors and outdoors in most weather conditions. There may be some seasonal variation in the work and most firms are busiest in the warmer, drier summer months. The work can involve working at heights, using ladders and scaffolding, and some heavy lifting so please bare this in mind when applying for the position.

Working Hours: The working hours will be 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm. Some flexibility will be required due to the nature of the job.
Wages: £148.00 per week, based on 40 hour week. Any overtime above the 40 hours per week, will be paid at the appropriate national minimum wage depending on age.
Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement (including bank holidays) will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

The company have a history of apprentices in Fenestration that have successfully achieved their apprenticeships to become fully qualified.
Whilst you will initially be working towards a Level 3 qualification, there will be an opportunity for an apprentice with the right skills, ability and attitude to progress onto a full time role within the company.
The successful candidate will have good listening skills, have the ability to follow instruction well and good hand-eye coordination skills when trained in college and on-site.
They will need to be dedicated, driven and have good personable skills. They will be hard working and interested in learning and making bricklaying a career choice.
You must be reliable and motivated to work within construction trade with a willingness to undertake a qualification. Good timekeeping is also a necessity as you will start work early in the morning.
GCSE grades A-E is desired.
The Apprenticeship in Fenestration Installation consists of:
◾Level 3 NVQ Certificate in Fenestration Installation
◾Level 3 Certificate in Glass Related Operations
◾Functional Skills in Maths and English (Level 2)
◾Construction Skills Health, Safety and Environment test – CSCS Test
◾Emergency First Aid
◾Certified Health and Safety Course
◾Internet Safety / Safeguarding
Most aspects of your training will be delivered on-site with the employer, and you will have regular site visits every six to eight weeks from your designated assessor, who will monitor your progress throughout your apprenticeship programme.
Skills Group will also support you to achieve Emergency First Aid and a Health and Safety Certificate, along with Internet Safety and Safeguarding.
You will also be supported by Skills Group to complete your CSCS online test, to achieve your CSCS Card which enables you to carry out site work, if required.
