Absolute Fencing and Decking Ltd are looking for an apprentice to join their experienced family run company based in Plymouth.
The Apprentice’s Role
Absolute Fencing & Decking Company is a small family run business specialising in the installation of high quality fencing, decking and landscaping projects including patios, gates, sheds, barriers and pagodas including first and second fix carpentry. As a carpentry apprentice you will learn all aspects of carpentry and joinery as well as building and construction on site, you will be expected to learn all elements of first and second fit carpentry within bespoke fencing and decking sector, however not limited.
You will be expected to work hard, be willing to learn and take direction well, you must have outstanding attention to detail and motivated at all times. As an apprentice you will learn other aspects of the building and construction trade to enhance and develop your knowledge and overall ability.
As an apprentice you we expected that the successful candidate must be hardworking, reliable with a keen eye for detail and willingness to learn.
Working Hours: The working hours will be 40 hours per week Monday to Friday, 8am – 5pm, although start and finishing times may vary depending on locations and travelling to site.
Wages: £148.00 per week. Any overtime above the 40 hours per week, will be paid at the appropriate national minimum wage depending on age.
Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement, including bank holidays, will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

Absolute Fencing & Decking covers a wide area from Bristol to Lands’ End their core area of work is in the Plymouth/East Cornwall area extending to Kingsbridge, Totnes and Newton Abbot.

You will need to be polite and hardworking, you will be expected to work long hours and the work will at times be hard and physical, you will be working in a small close team therefore you will need to be a good team player. You maybe working in people's homes therefore you will need to be responsible at all times.
You will need to be friendly and approachable, an excellent team player and have extreme attention to detail. You will need to be responsible and trustworthy at times and take direction well.
Qualifications are not essential however a level of English and Maths would be desirable
The Apprenticeship in Wood Occupations Site Carpentry consists of:
◾Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Wood Occupations (Site Carpentry)
◾Level 2 Standard Carpentry and Joinery
◾Functional Skills in Maths and English (Level 1)
◾Construction Skills Health, Safety and Environment test – CSCS Test
◾Emergency First Aid
◾Certified Health and Safety Course
◾Internet Safety / Safeguarding
As part of the apprenticeship programme, attendance is required at our Skills Group training centre for one day per week. All other aspects of the qualification will be delivered on-site by the employer. You will have regular visits every six to eight weeks from your designated Skills Group assessor, who will monitor your progress during your apprenticeship training.
Whilst at the Skills Group training centre, you will learn the necessary skills and gain experience to help you throughout your role. Part of your training will be knowledge and theory based, whilst the rest will be practical. Learning additional skills will benefit you on returning to the employer.
As an additional qualification you will also achieve your Emergency First Aid and certified Health and Safety Certificates, along with Internet Safety and Safeguarding.
