Tiny Toes Pre-School, Kingsteignton close to Newton Abbot are a well-established and experienced childcare provider. They are now looking for a passionate apprentice to join their successful and friendly team.
The Apprentice’s Role
To work within the team to ensure the smooth day to day organisation & the safety of all children.
As a Level 2 Childcare apprentice, you will be expected to have excellent observational and communication skills and will play an active part in the development of the children in your care.
You will help children to understand and demonstrate good health, hygiene and personal habits during meal times, rest periods and bathroom use, and model excellence whilst you assist in serving snacks and refreshments to children.
You be a great team player and have excellent standards of personal hygiene and appearance, be reliable and model positive behaviour at all times.
The apprentice will start their position within the 2 year old section, where the would be expected to welcome children and parents in the morning, help set up and support the team leader and provide creative ideas in planning.
Tiny Toes Pre-school are looking for an apprentice who is keen to work with children, enthusiastic, hard working and shows initiative.
Working Hours: 30 hours a week over Monday – Friday 08:15 – 15:30, possibly later when covering afternoon. Shift patterns to be discussed on interview.
Wages: £117.00 per week, based on a 30 hour week. Any overtime above the 40 hours per week, will be paid at the appropriate national minimum wage depending on age.
Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement (including bank holidays) will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

Tiny Toes Pre-School Ltd is managed by a private partnership since 2008 and operates from the ground floor of the Rydon Community Hall in Kingsteignton near Newton Abbot in Devon. The pre-school is open from 9am to 3pm each Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in school term times. Children may attend all day or each session and may also stay for lunch.
On completion of your Level 2 qualification, you will have the opportunity to developing your skills, experience and knowledge further within the working environment by completing a level 3 qualification.
The employer is very committed to staff development and training, and to assist the successful apprentice to progress through all their training, with a view to future employment.
The successful candidate needs to be outgoing and able to work using own initiative. As an apprentice you will have an interest in the needs of young children & have the ability to work as part of a team & understand the importance of confidentiality.
The successful applicant will need to be highly reliable and extremely patient, with a kind, fair and supportive approach to be able to work effectively in this child care setting. An ability to communicate well with children, staff and parents is essential.
GCSE A*-C's are desirable but not essential.
The Apprenticeship in Child Care includes:

◾Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT (Level 1)

◾Certified Health and Safety Course
◾Internet Safety / Safeguarding
Most aspects of the qualification and training will be delivered at your workplace where you will be supported throughout your training by your employer. You will have regular visits every six to eight weeks from your designated assessor who will help you, and monitor your progression throughout your apprenticeship.
As an additional qualification you will also achieve Emergency and Paediatric First Aid, and a Health and Safety Certificate, along with Internet Safety and Safeguarding.
