A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an apprentice at a local childcare setting in Paignton, Sunflower Braeside Nursery.
The Apprentice’s Role
Duties to include:
•As a nursery assistant you will perform a variety of tasks which will include supervising children’s play time, engaging children in learning and pay activities and keeping and updating records
•Along with this, you will be working with team members to maintain a high standard of operation
•You will be attending staff meetings and you may also be required to bathe and take care of the children’s hygiene
Working Hours: Monday to Friday between 8am-6pm. Specific shifts are to be discussed with employer on start of apprenticeship.
Wages: £156.00 per week, based on a 40 hour week. Any overtime above the 40 hours per week, will be paid at the appropriate national minimum wage depending on age.
Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement (including bank holidays) will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

Sunflower Braeside Nursery are based in Paignton, they are registered with Ofsted to care for up to 45 children between the ages of 0-8 years.
The setting has a designated baby room with an adjacent sleeping area and a large room for children aged 2 years and above. We are very proud of our Ofsted report, where we achieved four areas that are classed as outstanding.

The apprentice will become a fully qualified child care assistant with an apprenticeship, which will set you up for a career in the industry
•They will need to be able to communicate with children and adults, be reliable and hardworking
•Have an ability to follow procedures, to work as part of a team and use your own initiative
•Great leadership skills, organization and confidence
•Ability to work under pressure, as well as good problem solving skills and flexibility
•The apprentice will need to be caring, reliable, and enthusiastic and have a willingness to learn in a professional busy nursery
•They need to be outgoing, flexible and keen to succeed
•Qualifications required for this role, include GCSE grades A-C in maths and English or equivalent qualifications such as functional skills
The Apprenticeship in Child Care includes:

•Emergency First Aid
•Certified Health and Safety Course
•Internet Safety / Safeguarding
Most aspects of the qualification and training will be delivered at your workplace where you will be supported throughout your training by your employer.
You will have regular visits every six to eight weeks from your designated assessor who will help you, and monitor your progression throughout your apprenticeship.
As an additional qualification you will also achieve Emergency and Paediatric First Aid, and a Health and Safety Certificate, along with Internet Safety and Safeguarding.
