Bambinos Childcare Centre in Tavistock, is looking for a level 2 child care apprentice to join their friendly and enthusiastic team.
The Apprentice’s Role
Bambinos Childcare Centres have been operating in Plymouth since 1994, and are looking to recruit a child care apprentice to join the team in their Tavistock branch.
You will be expected to work within the team to ensure the smooth day to day organisation and safety of all children. The successful apprentice must have excellent observation and communication skills and will play an active part in the development of the children in their care. You will also be a key worker to a group of children where you will play a big part in their development and overall learning journey.
You will help children to understand and demonstrate good health, hygiene and personal habits during meal times, rest periods and bathroom use, and model excellence whilst you assist in serving snacks and refreshments to children. You must also be a great team player and have excellent standards of personal hygiene and appearance, be reliable and model positive behaviour at all times.

Working Hours: Typical hours, 35-40 hours per week, Monday-Friday between the hours of 7.30am-6pm.
Wages: £211.20 per week, based on a 40 hour week.
Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement (including bank holidays) will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

Past Apprentices
The nursery has recently employed an apprentice through Skills Group and are now looking for further apprentices to extend their highly professional team.
On completion of your Level 2 qualification, you will have the opportunity to progress onto the Level 3 apprenticeship. The employer is very committed to staff development and training, and to assist the successful apprentice to progress through all their training, with a view to future employment.
Skills Required
The successful candidate needs to be outgoing and able to work using their own initiative. You should have an interest in the needs of young children, have the ability to work as part of a team and understand the importance of confidentiality.
You will need to have good communication skills when dealing with children and adults, and be reliable and hardworking. The successful candidate must also have great leadership and organisational skills, and be confident in everything they do. You must have the ability to work under pressure, as well as possess good problem solving skills and flexibility in your approach to work.
Personal Qualities
The successful applicant will need to be highly reliable and extremely patient, with a kind, fair and supportive approach to be able to work effectively in this child care setting.
As an apprentice, you must be able to work with other adults and be able to demonstrate good teamwork skills, and when required, have the ability to work alone in an organised and focused manner. An ability to communicate well with children, staff and parents is also essential.
Prior Qualifications
Qualifications required for this role, include GCSE grades A-C in Maths and English or equivalent qualifications such as functional skills.
Additional Requirements
In order to be successful for this position, you will need to complete an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check. This will be arranged by the employer after successfully completing the initial interview.
The Apprenticeship in Child Care includes:
Level 2 Early Years Practitioner Standard
Most aspects of the qualification and training will be delivered at your workplace where you will be supported throughout your training by your employer. You will have regular visits every 6 to 12 weeks from your designated assessor who will help you, and monitor your progression throughout your apprenticeship.
As an additional qualification you will also achieve Emergency and Paediatric First Aid, and a Health and Safety Certificate, along with Internet Safety and Safeguarding.
