This is a great opportunity to undertake an administration qualification within a well known school in Landrake, Cornwall.

The Apprentice’s Role

You will be guided throughout your apprenticeship by a qualified member of staff who will teach you the skills and knowledge to successfully complete your apprenticeship programme.

You will be working in a busy office supporting the business needs as required. The role will include data entry, database management, dealing with enquiries both internally and externally, creating and collating files, word processing, filing, supporting office processes and systems and general office duties as required.

You will be expected to provide an efficient and effective clerical and administrative support service to a designated manager in accordance with company policies and procedures. You will be required to support the team in various areas and departments throughout the organisation to develop your skills, knowledge and experience in all aspects of administration.

Working Hours: The required working hours will be 30-40 hours per week, Monday to Friday between the hours of 8am to 5pm. Specific shifts will be negotiated with the school.

Wages: £156.00 per week. Any additional hours worked over 40 hours per week will be paid at the National Minimum Wage depending on age.

Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement (including bank holidays) will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

Past Apprentices

The school currently employ a Apprentice Sports Teaching Assistant and are looking to recruit both a Teaching Assistant and Business Administration Apprentice. They have provided placements for apprentices previously and are excited for further apprentices to join their motivated team.

There will additionally be outstanding progression opportunities into other roles across the school curriculum.

Skills Required

The successful apprentice will need to have an excellent knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications and have excellent communication skills, both face to face and on the telephone. They will also need good time keeping skills, attention to detail and enthusiasm towards these exciting roles.

Apprentices will need to be able to use their own initiative as well as being able to work well within a team. The successful candidate needs to be focused and determined to succeed.

Personal Qualities

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, motivated and focused. You will also need to take pride in their work and strive to achieve the highest quality in every task.

Prior Qualifications

You will need 5 GCSEs, grades A-E (including Maths and English)

The Apprenticeship in Business Administration consists of:

  • Diploma in Business Administration
  • Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT
  • Health and Safety Certificate
  • Emergency First Aid

Most aspects of your training will be delivered on site by the employer, where you will gain all the skills, knowledge and experience to assist you in this role. Your duties will vary from day to day, and throughout your on site learning process you will work closely with experienced members of staff.

You will have regular visits every six to eight weeks from your designated assessor, who will help you and monitor your progress throughout your apprenticeship programme.
