The role of a salon receptionist is to deliver a high quality service to the customers of your organisation. As Salon Receptionist you will be required to provide a warm, friendly and professional welcome to all telephone enquiries and walk in clients.

The Apprentice’s Role

As first point of contact in the salon, your focus will be on ensuring our clients receive the best possible service. You will be expected to provide a professional, efficient and friendly reception service and enjoy making a difference to every person who walks through our doors. You will be booking appointments, general day to day salon duties: i.e. attending to clients needs, making coffees/teas etc, keeping the salon tidy and assisting the rest of the team where required. We are looking for someone with good social and communication skills, who is enthusiastic , keen to learn, and will enjoy working with the rest of the team in the friendly, vibrant atmosphere that our salon creates.

Working Hours: The successful candidate will work 37hrs per week between Tuesday and Saturday.

Wages: £144.00 per week. Any additional hours worked over 40 hours per week will be paid at the National Minimum Wage depending on age.

Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement (including bank holidays) will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

Skills Required

You will need a mature approach when handling confidential client information and good verbal and written communication skills, some knowledge and confidence in using IT applications is desirable, effective keyboard skills, confidence in using the telephone and the ability to work as part of a busy team.

Personal Qualities

Building good relationships with clients is a vital part of a successful business, and as the salons first point of contact excellent interpersonal skills are required. You will need to have good organisational skills, be of smart appearance and have a friendly, outgoing personality. You will need to be keen to learn, have an enthusiastic approach to work and be an effective team member.

Prior Qualifications

GCSE pass grades (A – C) in both Maths and English. ICT previous experience would also be an advantage but not essential.

The Apprenticeship in Customer Service consists of:
•Certificate in Customer Service
•Functional Skills in Maths and English

You will have to attend monthly diploma sessions throughout the first 8 months of your apprenticeship to gain knowledge and skills to apply to your placement. Most aspects of your training will be delivered on-site by the employer, where you will gain all the skills, knowledge and experience to assist you in this role. Your duties will vary from day to day, and throughout your on-site learning process you will work closely with experienced members of staff.

You will have regular visits every six to eight weeks from your designated assessor, who will help you and monitor your progress throughout your apprenticeship programme.
