The Apprentices Role

ADS are looking for a Customer Service apprentice who would be able to assist us with all our office duties. This role includes answering the telephone, booking appointments, adding data entry onto our customer management system, occasionally dealing with customers face to face, typing quotes / orders and providing general administrative support for the company

Full training will be given on our systems and there will always be someone in the office to help and show you how the systems and procedures work in the business.

The job role will also include keeping the office showroom in a presentable state at all times, answering and making calls on behalf of the business, booking appointments, typing quotes and orders and providing general administrative support for the company.

Working Hours: Your working hours will be Monday to Thursday, 9am – 5pm and Fridays, 9am – 4pm.

Wages: £187.59 per week, £4.81 per hour, 39 hours per week.

Holiday: 25 days holiday entitlement (plus bank holidays) will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

ADS has been successfully trading for 11yrs in Ivybridge. Run by director, Max, ADS supply and install PVC windows and doors to domestic and commercial clients. ADS have expanded to providing guttering, cladding, fascias and more, offering a full home improvement service. Being very successful in their progress to date, there are also plans on the horizon for an online parts outlet expanding the business coverage further.

Prior Apprentices

They are a highly motivated skilled team and have a history of supporting apprentices through the ranks.

Skills Required

Great time-keeping and reliability are essential within this role. Being a great communicator and able to be trusted working in a busy team but also independently is key. The successful applicant will have a strong desire to grow and develop, be very proactive and eager to succeed in such a role.

Must be able to get to the office in Ivybridge daily.

Must be computer literate and familiar with Microsoft word & Excel.

Personal Qualities

You will be friendly and approachable, willing to ask relevant questions and work well within the team and individually. You will have a trustworthy and honest nature and be confident in a friendly work environment. Will need to presentable and tidy. Have good organisational skills, be punctual and be able to use self-initiative.

Prior Qualifications

The required qualifications the employer is looking for GCSE Maths and English at Grade C or above (or equivalent). ICT Skills and/or GCSE would be advantageous.

The Apprenticeship in Customer Service Practitioner consists of:

  • Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner Apprenticeship Standard
  • Functional Skills in Maths and English

You will attend monthly sessions as part of your off-the-job training throughout your apprenticeship. Most aspects of your training will be delivered on-site by the employer, where you will gain all the skills, knowledge and experience to assist you in this role. Your duties will vary from day to day, and throughout your on-site learning process you will work closely with experienced members of staff.

You will have regular visits every six to eight weeks from your designated assessor, who will help you and monitor your progress throughout your apprenticeship programme.

I would find it difficult to get up for 9am but now I wake up and look forward to my day. The biggest change since leaving school is adjusting to the independence you gain from earning a salary. My advice to anyone thinking of doing an apprenticeship would be find what you like doing, and go for it!

In a classroom, you only interact with your classmates, but through working you develop your people skills as you interact with customers on a daily basis. At school, you are closely monitored and parented, however I am now more independent and feel grown up
