Here at Skills Group, we strive to provide quality apprenticeships, we care about how our learners are doing and like to follow their progress.
Here’s Brody’s story…
Brody realised her passion for Health and Social Care after many years of caring for her father and sister. She had carried out the emotional and physical element of the job for many years, and wanted to focus on achieving the qualifications needed to progress to working professionally as a carer.
Brody started a Health & Social Care course at college, but found she was not getting the support she needed and satisfaction she wanted. She came to Skills Group quiet and anxious but after discussing her options with her assigned learner support advisor, she started her Health and Social Care Level 2 Certificate. She has now successfully gained all her certifications and theory modules ready for her work placement.
“Since starting at Skills Group I have become more confident and happy. I am so proud that I have passed all my certifications; theory has never been my strong point but with the support of the trainers I feel I have all the foundation knowledge I need to start my work placement.”
Brody has been successful in securing a work placement with Laburnham Lodge, where upon completion she will progress to her Level 2 Apprenticeship diploma.
Even though Brody is at the beginning of her placement, she already realises the benefit of starting an apprenticeship and comments -“If I could give a piece of advice to anyone starting an apprenticeship, it would be to believe in yourself and be confident that you can succeed. I am so much more confident and grateful to have the support of my trainers who have helped me get to where I am today. I am happy and excited for the future!”
She can’t wait to start her apprenticeship so she can start driving lessons and treat herself every now and then! Once Brody finishes her apprenticeship she hopes to secure a full time job working within the disability or mental health sector.
We wish her all the best for her placement and look forward to following her progress throughout her Skills Group journey.
