This is a brilliant opportunity for a body repair apprentice to be involved in the preparation of vehicle bodywork including collision and corrosion repairs in Plymouth.
The Apprentice’s Role
This employer is looking for an enthusiastic apprentice to join their busy team. The role will include assisting in tasks such as valeting vehicles prior to customer collection, the preparing and repairing of vehicles prior to refinishing.
You will be supervised at all times by a fully qualified member of staff who will introduce you to the specialist tools and equipment involved in this role. These range from basic hand tools to power tools and measuring equipment.
Working Hours: The working hours will be 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5pm. This may vary slightly depending on workload.
Wage: £148.00 per week, based on a 40 hour week. Any additional hours worked above 40 hours per week, will be paid at the appropriate national minimum wage, depending on age.
Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement, including bank holidays, paid each year during the course of your apprenticeship.
This employer is a vehicle accident and body repair specialist on the outskirts of Plymouth.
They provide services to private individuals, insurance companies, local fleets, light commercial vehicles, motorcycles and selected restorations. They have built a reputation for high quality repairs and refinishing on all types of vehicles.
This employer has stated that the right apprentice would progress onto a level 3 qualification following the completion of their level 2 apprenticeship, offering them support to develop them into the future.
In order to be successful you will have good time keeping and a reliable nature with a genuine enthusiasm to learn new skills. You will also need the ability to work with other members of the small team in order to meet the companies wide variety of needs.
Along with this, you will have good hand-eye coordination skills and a focused approach to the job in hand. Excellent time keeping and attendance are also a must. Along with this, you must have good communication skills as you will need to work as part of a team as well as on your own using your initiative.
The successful apprentice will need to be a honest reliable and motivated individual with a genuine interest in all things automotive.
Qualifications required for this role include GCSE’s grades D or above in Maths and English, or equivalent qualifications.

Attendance is required at our training centre for one day per week, and you will have regular visits every six to eight weeks from your designated assessor who will monitor your progress throughout your training.
Whilst at our training centre you will learn the necessary skills and gain experience to help you in your role. Part of your training will be theory based, whilst the rest will be practical activities at our workshop facility.
You will be shown how to improve your hand skills using a variety of tools safely, ranging from basic hand tools to power tools. You will also be using measuring equipment such as torque wrenches and compression checking equipment. You will also learn basic fault finding and diagnostics skills. Part of your learning at our training centre will include stripping brakes, suspension and many other components. Learning all of these skills will benefit you on your return to the employer.
